The Nigerian Professionals Network, USA, (NPN) in partnership with The World Bank and International Monetary Fund Nigerian Community, recently hosted a landmark event in Washington, DC. The event themed “Nurturing Nigeria’s Future: Integrating Health and Enterprise Development for Sustainable Growth” was more than just a gathering of minds; it was a clarion call for the Nigerian diaspora to play a pivotal role in shaping the country’s policy-making, healthcare, and SME development.
Diaspora Inclusion in Policy Making
Nigerian professionals from various sectors converged, all driven by a shared vision of harnessing diaspora resources and expertise for Nigeria’s sustainable growth. The discussions focused on leveraging the unique position of the diaspora in contributing to health and SME development back home. The emphasis was on actionable recommendations that can be implemented to make tangible impacts in these sectors.
Transforming Healthcare through Diaspora Engagement
The event spotlighted the need for robust primary health care systems as the foundation of a prosperous Nigerian society. Participants discussed the vast potential of diaspora networks in enhancing healthcare delivery through knowledge transfer, innovative health solutions, and strategic partnerships. The discourse revolved around not just addressing immediate health disparities but also building sustainable systems that leverage global best practices and resources.
Fostering SME Growth with Global Insights
Similarly, the discussions emphasized the critical role of the Nigerian diaspora in driving the growth and innovation of Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
