Nigerian Professionals Network (NPN), Diaspora is a collaborative space for Nigerians across various fields of professional endeavor. This Network actively engages in projecting positive narratives about Nigeria, fostering social integration, and harnessing the intellectual prowess as well as business acumen of Nigerians, with a view to strengthen their impact both at home and abroad. NPN’s goal is to provide a space for Nigerian professionals to network, forge strategic partnerships, discuss current development issues, contribute to local communities, and access tools and resources to improve their specific practices. We are committed to developing and promoting programs highlighting the critical roles that the Nigerian diaspora could play in Nigeria’s quest for rapid socio-economic and political development, whilst improving cooperation on many important foreign policy goals and relationships.

Olumide Kola-Lawal

THE FOUNDER

Olumide Kola-Lawal is a public policy, diplomacy, and international development professional with over 10 years experience with multilateral organizations, government, private sector, NGOs, and think tanks.
He is currently an External Affairs and Public Sector Consultant in the Office of the Chief Economist for Africa at the World Bank Headquarters, Washington, DC. He works with the Public Sector specialist to design and coordinate the overall strategic communications between the Office of the Chief Economist and the Africa Economic Research Consortium Visiting Scholars program on the aegis of the Think Africa Partnership Trust Fund. He also leads stakeholder coordination for the Canada Caribbean Resilient Facility and compilation of global reports for the Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery team.

Olumide's Profile

Olumide Kola-Lawal is a public policy, diplomacy and international development professional with over 10 years’ experience with multilateral organizations, government, private sector, NGOs and think tanks. He holds a Masters degree in International Policy and Practice (MIPP) from the George Washington University, USA; and a Public Management certificate from Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, Virginia- USA. In addition to a Bachelor’s degree in English Education from the University of Lagos, Nigeria.

Prior to traveling to the United States to further his studies, he worked as youth development advocate at Youth 1960, a social development initiative that stimulates youth political participation in Nigeria. He later worked in Nigeria’s 7 th National Assembly as a Legislative Officer, where he transitioned to partisan politics to contest as a legislative aspirant in the Lagos State House of Assembly Elections of 2015. Olumide is an associate member of the Institute of Strategic Management of Nigeria (ISMN) and the Global Diplomatic Forum, London.

His international experience also includes working in the Government Affairs and External Relations department of the International Republican Institute (IRI) and the United National Development Program (UNDP) in Washington DC. His global exposure includes working with governments and stakeholders in countries such as: Belize, Canada, Dominica, Guyana, Grenada, Jamaica, Somalia, United Kingdom, and Zimbabwe.

In 2016, he was selected for the Mandela Washington Fellowship, a US Government-funded program fo young African leaders from 49 Sub-Saharan African countries. He later served as the National President of the Mandela Washington Fellowship Alumni Association of Nigeria (2016-2017). Under his leadership, his team successfully built strategic partnerships for the Association and enhanced its visibility, making it a model for other African countries.

Olumide remains an exemplary leader championing causes that promote social and economicdevelopment for individuals, organizations and nations.
